Hey there! In April, there was talk about Samsung launching the Galaxy F54 in India by the end of the month, but that didn’t happen. However, there’s good news – according to a recent Twitter leak, the phone should be launching in the next two to three weeks!
The Galaxy F54 is closely related to the Galaxy A54 but with a few twists. It’s said to come with a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120 Hz AMOLED touchscreen, an Exynos 1380 SoC, a triple rear camera setup (with a 108 MP main camera with OIS, 8 MP ultrawide, and a 2 MP decorative sensor), a 32 MP selfie camera, and a 6,000 mAh battery with 25W wired charging support. The phone is also expected to have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a hybrid SIM slot, Gorilla Glass 5 on top of the screen, and support for Wi-Fi 6.

Compared to the Galaxy A54, the F54 will have a bigger screen, only a single speaker, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner instead of an in-display one, a higher-res main camera, a lower-res ultrawide camera, a 20% larger battery, and a “less premium build”. So, it’s likely to be slightly cheaper than its sibling when it lands in India later this month.

Tecno, a brand known for its budget-friendly devices, has recently released the Tecno Phantom V Fold, joining Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Honor’s Magic Vs. What’s great about Tecno’s release is that it offers solid hardware at a very affordable price.
You can now pre-order the Tecno Phantom V Fold on Tecno’s official stores on Shopee, Lazada, and Urban Republic until May 9th, 2023. It has a regular retail price of RM5,399, which is much cheaper than the Honor Magic Vs’ RM5,999 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s RM6,799.
But wait, there’s more! If you were pre-order during this period, you can get it for only RM4,999, and Tecno is even throwing in a free Smart Foldable Electric Scooter worth RM899. That’s quite a deal, right?
The Tecno Phantom V Fold looks premium with its solid 6.42-inch, FHD+ and 7.85-inch 2296 x 2000p AMOLED displays. The two screens come with LTPO backplanes allowing for a 10-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and both offer a 360Hz and 240Hz touch sampling rate on the outer and main display, respectively. The screens also have a peak brightness of 1,100nits with full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. Plus, the outer display has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, and the main display has Schott UTG.
Under the hood, you’ll find a MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ system-on-chip, which is a solid flagship silicon from last year. This is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFC 3.1 storage. It comes with Android 13 out of the box and is skinned with Tecno’s own HiOS13 Fold, which has some widgets and features designed for foldable use. Tecno has not disclosed how many years of software support they’ll be providing, but they did guarantee at least two major OS upgrades.
In the camera department, you’ll find a large circular camera bump on the back, housing a main 50MP, f/1.85 camera, a 13MP, f/2.2 ultrawide angle shooter, and a 50MP, f/1.98 telephoto camera that offers a 2x optical zoom and a maximum 20x digital zoom. There’s also a 32MP selfie camera on the outer display and a 16MP selfie camera on the main screen.
Other note features include a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, and support for WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and 5G wireless connectivity. Tecno claims that the hinge will last over 200,000 folds and is made of aerospace-grade materials, but it’s not the free-stop hinge type seen on Samsung’s options.
The Tecno Phantom V Fold comes in black or white and weighs 299g, measuring 14.53mm thick.
